Research Digital Storefront - Rapid Iteration
This was a fun project, and one that I wanted to highlight because it shows how much can be accomplished in a single day with the right preparation.
The idea was to have a day-long workshop to create several rapid iterations and arrive at a design that could be as it started out as a rapid iterative session that was accomplished in a single day.
The goal for our work session was to create a front page for a possible research store. I worked closely with the Product Owner who would be in charge of this project to create a quick mockup that we could then take to management, or begin to showing clients, and of course further refine, expand, and explore additional functionality with.
We started out with a few basic concepts that the Product Owner wanted to further explore.
We started with using some pre-existing design assets from other platforms but quickly wanted to evolve this new idea in a different direction.

We then started to work on exploring different layout options, looking at different features and types of content.
I worked in tandem directly with the Product Owner to create new iterations in real time as we discussed them.
We wrapped up the session by taking a quick look into exploring potential user flows and interaction design.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
By the end of the day, we had a front page we really liked. Some cool hover states for our cards to help distinguish this platform as more of a store front other applications that are more readership and library focused.
While there is still more to do, I think this highlights the benefits of dedicated workshops to bring together an idea, or concept. Sometimes it is hard to weigh the business value or efficacy of a certain idea or project without being able to visualize it. I think an important element of UX Strategy and Design is to help bring ideas to life so they can be better explored and understood before taking the next step.
